"it will never happen to me..."
i have long abandoned that thought, especially as the years pass and i realize you can't only acknowledge or assimilate the good while neglecting the dark and scary. anyway, something happened to a friend recently that i never thought possible, and i'm thankful for His protection through it all. i wish i could do more than pray, but until i know more, i can't.
this incident brings to mind a song whose lyrics i used to ponder immensely:
live every moment as though it was your last
before the thief of always steals tomorrow from your past
before the chance to know His love has somehow passed you by
let your heart reach out right here, right now, for the Lord to touch your life
