it has truly been a meaningful Easter. we may sometimes ask, just what is so good about a day on which the Holy One was pierced and murdered for our sake. HOW DID IT COME TO THIS? on no year has it been clearer to me that every single nail He endured was my fault. each one of us should take full responsibility for His death...but if it all were to end there, we'd have nothing but grief. hallelujah that He conquered death, brought life and hope to all!!!

it was such a joyous occasion to watch three good friends get baptised on saturday, and hear how their knowledge of who Christ is grew richer each time they encountered Him in their early days. He is a genuine deliverer, taking His creations from darkness to light, valleys to mountaintops, gloom to sunshine. who else can change our lives so much?!?

yesterday nick, alfred and i served dinner at hope mission, which was a rewarding, memorable task. the volume of guests seemed overwhelming yet not unrealistic, but became a humble reminder of the need to treasure and be thankful for the simplest basics of life. and as the volunteer coordinator, lisa, included in her grace, it's because of Him that we even were able to provide that meal.

THANKS, JESUS!

the weather here is SERIOUSLY out of whack... i can't complain since it's fluffy snow, but it just seems incongruent in my mental image of spring flowers and showers.

played badminton with lynn and alfred today. i thought i'd be sore afterwards, but it's worn off quickly. i'm thankful to have been offered pointers in terms of how to maximize force. and hopefully we can play again soon. more than playing the sport itself, i enjoyed the time we had to chat with one another. is there anything sweeter on earth than the people God brings into our lives?

since i didn't have fellowship, i went to prayer meeting tonight for the first time in a while. the message was about a walk based not on legalities, but the goodness of Christ ("skin" vs. "bones") and that our presentation as a body of believers is important...nice reminders! and also for the first time in a while, i genuinely felt myself let Him in to speak as i prayed. thanks, Jesus!

QA school asked me to help with the passover festivities next week. it'll be my first time seeing a palm parade and also experiencing seder...how neat!

looks like snow again. hope it's the powder kind, as i'd like to get in at least one more snowboarding attempt before springtime blooming takes over.

supernanny is a riot, especially the 'naughty stool' technique. as i watch the episodes, i wonder if the kids are extra well-behaved simply because jo frost is there. i mean, can parents truly acquire and master her techniques in 3 days?!?

several weeks in, i'm quite enjoying working/volunteering at QA. all the staff is friendly and helpful (particularly the secretary, principal and the teacher i'm working with), the kids are fun, and the school is beautiful. i do, however, see an authority privilege in teachers that others, no matter what they do, cannot achieve; yesterday, i was supervising the grade 5/6 room at lunch, and kept looking outside because two grade 4 boys were playing around at the drinking fountain. they dawdled and dawdled, staring straight at me to see if i'd call them out on their behavior, which i did. afterwards, i asked one of the kids why he would look at me every time he did something, and he just said, "i don't really know." he was stunned that i noticed his attempts at provoking him or something...? quite funny.

anyways, i'm praying to see if God is paving the way for me to be employed here come fall. the principal said he'd phone the school board with a recommendation, but we'll see what happens. it would be a neat environment to teach in, seeing as i could share my faith freely.

next up - find court times and afforable rates for badminton!

keeping two blogs (this and xanga) is pretty much self-created entertainment! :p

went to block 1912 with nick, alfred, sharon, lynn and lesley today. whyte ave was teeming with people, of course, and the cafe itself was quite packed, but we found comfortable seats okay. and the seats are worth pointing out, since it seemed every chair was different from every other one in the place...artsy indeed! so, we sat for about 3 hours, talking about almost everything. i always enjoy our times together, where we truly can edify each other and be honest (even with constructive criticism), something that's so rare in many relationships. and there is excitement brewing in our group... ^___^

kerry taught me the neatest guitar plucking pattern last night, which would sound even funkier on a bass. thanks so much, i'm learning again!

Lord, may we always be prepared to meet with You.
