work has been tougher than usual lately, likely because the kids are still mentally on holidays and the unstable weather certainly doesn't help either. when one's off, the others are, too, and it's hard to gain the compliance that normally seems to come so easy. for sure, the learning curve in this profession is continually steep, but the rewards of character and empowerment in the long term make it all meaningful and worthwhile. (quite helpful to remind myself of this during these more challenging times!)

apart from that, life seems to be moving by at lightning's pace most days. our band is practicing twice a week to prepare for the upcoming couples' music sharing in February, and though it's our second time to run this program, there are a lot of revisions to make and technicalities to adjust to.... and i'm certainly enjoying investing my life in my significant other's, and having Him guide us along the way. ^_^

apart from catching up on sleep, the Christmas break has allowed me ample opportunity to build upon existing ties as well as reconnect with faces from years past. i'm thankful for the significant chats that have gone along with many of these meetings. some recurring themes throughout have been growing up, investing in and making choices that will carry you beyond the immediate future. i was impressed how much of this came from the mouth of my church's young people, and that even in what is supposed to be their "frivolous student years" they can discern Hia will and are willing to submit wholeheartedly to seeking and living it. Lord, thanks for the poignant reminder to "store up treasures in heaven."

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely." - my commitment to 2008 :)
