my bests and i spent nearly three consecutive days together...yup, this weekend. seeing some people once in a rare while is enough, while others you like to meet up with once a month/week, and then there are those with whom time is no factor. that's how it's been lately, as we never run out of things to share, laugh, pray and be curious about...vielen danke!

i start my new job next week, which is exciting but also nerve-wracking. the work environment and colleagues are definitely favorable, but the tasks and requirements are new ground. thanks to my BFF for making it possible, though, and i look forward to taking on this challenge and developing some experience in an entirely new area.

over lunch yesterday, a good friend and i were discussing the next generation and the attitude and behavior of most kids these days. it's easy to get discouraged and/or lay blame on society and the encroaching, pervading media for the selfishness and disrespect that seems to prevail among children as a whole. however, it just makes even more urgent the need to reach individuals at a young age with the gospel - such that, even if they do choose to make wrong turns somewhere along the way, they will have a standard to turn back to, truths from His Word that hopefully will guide them back into the light. certainly, we must focus on communicating clearly to them that they need to abide by and have faith in Proverbs 3:5-6:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

those who are prayer warriors, help please! for years there's been a lack of opportunity, but now they seem to be coming in all (okay, just three, but still!) directions. it's made for a very confusing thought process, especially as i think much can be learned from each, and yet i must choose. God doesn't seem to be saying a hard "NO" to any, which leaves the choice even more open. any insights, my brothers and sisters?

    Toronto blog entry #6

got back from Toronto two nights ago, but thought i'd finish summarizing the vacation. friday, after a major nap (yes, all us cousins were knocked out!), we headed out for a japanese bbq dinner - me, charlene, clarence, john and shirley. it was even more fun than the korean bbq that john, shirley and i went to last time because of all the color, plus being able to 'jeet jeet' the lemon juice, and marinate our food before grilling it. clarence was 'king of the grill' and charlene was pro at making various arrangements and being quick about it...hilarious! and i didn't force veggies or fish on john this time :p we ate until about 11, then headed to first markham place's tea for me (i think that's what it was called), where annette, jeanette, and laureen joined us for yummy drinks, chinese checkers and watching 'what not to wear'. loved that day!

saturday started off a bit slow, as the cousins had errands to tend to (washing cars etc.), so charlene and i walked around the neighborhood - exploring the $5 million house and the trail behind it, as well as a nearby playground. lunch, then clarence, charlene, john, shirley and i (the usual) walked around yorkdale mall. and finally, dinner with the family at harbour city. but that wasn't it for the evening by any means.

many of us ended up spending the remainder of the night in york central's emergency room, gathered together for family and waiting for an answer. i thank God for granting me the courage and opportunity to bring prayer into the equation and truly seek His strength, wisdom and peace for all involved in the situation. praise Him that the situation seems to have subsided and turned around in the past day or so...but i earnestly pray that recovered health is not the only outcome, but a greater awareness and appreciation of our powerful, loving Lord Jesus Christ and the role He had in allowing things to turn out the way they did.

    Toronto blog entry #5

will return home in two evenings from now. it seems i'm not the only one who senses time to pass alarmingly quickly once august rolls around each year, though. strange how when you're busy or in an exciting situation, there is always a shortage of hours, but when you're involved in something mundane or routine, the end of the day can't come soon enough.

my aunt, uncle and cousins had fun on their own tour of montreal and qc, and got home a little after dinner last night. we spent the rest of the evening chatting, looking at pictures, watching TV, planning our cousin reunion (hopefully for two years down the road, and to include our australian relations as well), and also playing bomberman (sp?) 2. today was a day out with charlene, clarence and aunt lina at eaton centre, where we found some fantastic deals and overall enjoyed ourselves. tonight should be going out with the rest of our cousins, plus shirley and maybe laureen, and then will come the final night before i go back. i'll miss them all!!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISTER LESLEY!! <3 <3 <3

    Toronto blog entry #4

had an indescribable week in Eastern Canada, not only because we (parents, rest of tour group and me) visited so many places, but everything we took in - from the landscape to the culture and so much more - was breathtaking and refreshing. i was reminded of just how big "Kanata" is, and how little time we usually spend to appreciate all the individuals and years that were spent building it into what it is today - truly a home where we are free.

i guess my only regret was leaving for the tour the morning right after my uncle's family arrived. but we did have a hilarious, fun-filled, enjoyable time the previous evening - just sitting around gabbing about everything and nothing, sharing memories and laughs, scaring ourselves silly with John's crazy FF-like game, and of course, Skype-ing with our beloved grandparents, who were delighted to see all their North American grandchildren and children gathered together.

i have a few more days here in Toronto with my extended family, though my parents end their vacation tomorrow. and my cousins will return from their own tour of Montreal and Quebec City tomorrow evening, so i am excited to see what the next few days will bring. :) may He be the inspiration to create not only 'fun' memories, but ones that draw each one here a bit closer to a personal knowledge of Him as Creator and Best Friend.
